Connecting to Lowerping:
Open your terminal and enter: ssh -p 3421 -D 1080 lpusername@serverip
Once connected you can launch your game and play.
ServerIP's can be found here: http://lowerping.com/?p=servers
A severip represents a number for example 111.222.333.444
NOTE: The password is invisible You can't see what you type. Type it in and press enter.

Hi Dan,
I have proxycap and have done everything as instructed above, but when I enter "ssh -P 3421 -D 1080 lpusername@serverip" (with my username and the server ip) it gives me this message:
"ssh: Could not resolve hostname 3421: nodename nor servname provided, or not known"
Am I missing something here, or? Proxycap is running in the background.
I'm using 10.6.5.
Thanks

Does same message happen if you use a little p instead of P ssh -p 3421 -D 1080 lpusername@serverip

Thank you so much! it's up and running now

Dan,
After using lowerping, my ping has only skyrocketed. I'm using a dongle and I went from having 100-200ms on wow, to around 2000. (tried a few different servers - frankfurt and london)
However, I uninstalled proxycap to try and revert the changes but my ping is still 2000? I don't understand. Were the commands in entered into the terminal permanent and how do they run without proxycap? I would like my ping to go to how it was before

What exactly is the change to the text '-p 3421'?
Whatever it is it resulted in a ban and account closure. Something has obviously triggered a flag. Can you explain what this change is and why it might have flagged me?
Be aware I have been using LP without issue up until this point and I have not done anything to attract this kind of action on my account. The action was taken soon after I logged in with this new line.

@nishe the command would not cause any connection issues. Btw when uninstalling an app like proxycap when it asks you to reboot your computer make sure you do.
@Glokki, the -p 3421 is the port you connect to our server on, it would not be the cause of a flag. You should email Blizz right away if it was not just a password reset, about the issue.

So what has changed exactly as far as how mac users connect.
I notice a few settings different than previously like a 'direct connection' versus 'proxy tunnel' as before. And obviously the addition of LPs port 3421.
Could you explain to a layman the reasoning behind these?
-
Sure, Most Windows connections have used port 3421 by defult on lower-ping for a long time, this was left out of the Mac version as it was not needed at the time.
The Direct-Connection setting for Proxycap was added for compatibility with new the Wow-Streaming client, and also the New's-Box on the login page.
