Intermittantly for the last few weeks I've been experiencing problems with my connection - usually I'll ping 180ish to the panthers and 170ish to the lions, translating to about 185-195 ingame depending on where I am (playing WOW).
Lately I have been pinging 185 in an empty quest zone, then once in a raid bouncing up and down from 185 to 270 ish, before shooting up to 600+ once the boss is pulled and just lagging out (full red cast bar) every 3rd or so cast.

I had assumed it was related to iinet fault #1117743 the ongoing problem with international links.

On the urging of my guild mates "Go without LP, try without LP" etc I did tonight, and while a completely craptacular 450ish (that I haven't had to endure for 3 years) it didn't lag out or get any worse in the raid.

Is this still related to iinet or is this a problem with the Lowerping servers?

When using LP you do use more data an an increase in-packet sending rate, but you may also go over a different route compared to direct connection.

May help to trace the LP server you are using , then trace a few of the other servers to see if it takes you over a different route.

For example If you trace goes over reach see if any of the others take you over vocus. Or vicaa verca.

The Panthers appear to be Vocus while the Lions are Reach. Does this mean those guys are having problems at their end? Do I escalate this with iinet? Reach isn't part of their own network so do they do anything?
Thanks.

Lion seems to be competently **** for iiNet users, panther so far seems ok for me, ~230 ping which is like 40-50ms higher then usual but it's very playable compared to 500-600 with spikes or the 9000 + 15sec spikes i was getting today on lion

I took a look today around 4pm Sunday time.

Almost all the IiNet users are all on the Panther servers.
There was only around 20 Iinet connections on Lion servers and less on Tiger.

Yeah, Panthers are pinging around 205ish. Tigers are 200ish but stable. Lions are a craptacular 205 with lots of packet loss? instead of their usual great 168-174.

I noticed a few wierd looking hops in the tracert on the US end for Lions that I haven't seen before, securedprivatenetwork.net and thetorrentfile.org etc.

All the Wow Tunnels servers are also pinging in the same range (when they shouldn't be) so I guess something is just really screwed up at the other end for everyone?

!!! Lions are now pinging low 170s !! Will let you know if it's a stable 170 (ok, well 185 in game) once I start our raid at 9.30 pm.

Posted at 1pm today on WP forums RE: the infamous Fault Notice #1117743 (International Links)

Hi WP,

We have been working with our various Vendors over the past few weeks and our testing has shown that the faults causing these issues are now resolved.

Thanks for your patience and assistance in working through the various problems and issues that we've had over the past few weeks and I apologise for any inconvenience these may have caused.

If you believe that you still have an issue with your internet connection, then please contact iiNet support on 132258.

Dwayne Varey,

Operations Manager.
